Susan Engel, Ph.D., is Senior Lecturer in Psychology, and Class of 1959 Director of the Program in Teaching at Williams College. Her research highlights imaginative processes in childhood, ranging from the emergence of narratives and children’s autobiographical memory to the development of curiosity. Dr. Engel brings her work to a wide audience, including scientists, teachers and parents in discussions on childhood education. Her latest book, Red Flags or Red Herrings, provides social and clinical research to help allay parental anxiety and embrace who their children will become.
