Lawrence Aber, Ph.D., is a Professor of Applied Psychology and Public Policy at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University, where he also serves as Board Chair of its Institute for Human Development and Social Change. He is an internationally recognized expert in child development and social policy. His basic research examines the influence of poverty and violence in the family and the community, and how these factors affect the development of children and youth. Dr. Aber also designs and conducts evaluations of programs addressing violence prevention, literacy development and antipoverty initiatives for children, youth and families.
