Laura Petitto, Ph.D., is a Cognitive Neuroscientist and Full Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Graduate Studies Program at the University of Toronto and the University of Toronto Neuroscience Program. Dr. Petitto is known for her research on the biological bases of language, be it signed or spoken, and for her cross-species research to explore the nature of language and “mind” in Chimpanzees.
Dr. Petitto bridges discoveries in the science lab with prevailing problems in contemporary education, and has played a pioneering role in establishing a new scientific discipline, known as “Educational Neuroscience,” that further promotes such efforts.
