Dusty Bennett is currently in his seventh year at Disney Theatrical Group where he is responsible for conceiving and producing an eclectic variety of special events for the division, most notably DTG’s presence on the 2008 Tony® Awards, The Lion King’s historic performance at a White House State Dinner, the BBC Music of Disney Concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Lion King in London, the Disney Symphonic Legacy Concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall and Sherri Shepherd’s Mary Poppins transformation for “The View” on ABC. Throughout his various roles at Disney, Bennett has worked with such illustrious artists as Phil Collins, Bob Crowley, Alan Menken, Julie Taymor and Francesca Zambello. Bennett began his tenure with DTG as a Production Management Intern, where he contributed to the mounting of The Lion King’s First National Tour. Bennett was later appointed the Assistant Company Manager for the Second National tour of The Lion King, which he helped launch in Chicago and subsequently went on to manage in other numerous U.S. cities.
Bennett served as the Assistant Company Manager for Avenue Q at Wynn Las Vegas, where he participated in the modification of the show’s transformation into a new 90-minute production. Bennett was also a major contributor to Broadway producer Thomas Schumacher’s young people’s guide to the theater, “How Does the Show Go On? An Introduction To The Theater.” The much-heralded book was originally released in November 2007 and has since sold over 50,000 copies. A West Texas native, Bennett holds a dual degree in Biochemistry and Business Management from Abilene Christian University.
