Dorothy G. Singer, Ph.D., is Senior Research Scientist Emeritus in the Department of Psychology at Yale University and co-directs the Electronic Media and Families Unit at the Zigler Center. Her research focuses on early childhood development and television effects on youth. Dr. Singer consults with parent groups, television industry personnel and government agencies to develop programs and training materials on how to educate children to be critical users of television. To this end, she has consulted with LeapFrog, National Geographic, LEGO, and Children’s Museum of Manhattan, among many others. Parents, teachers and day care centers alike have made use of Dr. Singer’s media literacy efforts.
