David Elkind, Ph.D., is a professor and department chairman of the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development at Tufts University. A renowned child psychologist, Dr. Elkind has done extensive research in the areas of perceptual, cognitive, and social development. In addition to his work on adolescent psychology, Dr. Elkind also focuses on educational methods, and how recent changes in society and the family affect children, adolescents, and the family unit. He publishes widely on the topics of learning and healthy development, including the popular books The Hurried Child and Reinventing Childhood.
