Catherine Tamis-LeMonda, Ph.D., is Professor of Applied Psychology at the New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Catherine’s research is focused on the cultural and social contexts of language, cognitive and social development in infants' first years of life. Pairing observational research and laboratory investigation, Catherine examines how infants come to understand and recognize that others are useful sources of social information. Her lab’s goal is to advance a richer understanding of how learning unfolds in different cultural and ethnic groups in the U.S. as well as internationally.
